We have a Roof

It has been around a week since the last post.

A lot has happened since then:

1) The workers have finished all of the framing inside the house.
2) The roof is on and mostly shingled.
3) A good portion of the ductwork is now complete.
4) The front porch has been poured
5) The plumbing rough in has started.

They really do move fast once they get started. We are very excited as to the progress of the house.

We have noticed a few interesting details of the house.

1) The 9' ceiling upgrade caused a landing on the second floor. The landing caused the furniture niche to become 2 art niches which we are getting used to.
2) When the builder ran the ducts in the house, on the second floor they have put a cover over the register area to stop construction debris entering the ducts. What a marvelous idea, we heard horror stories for what people have found in their ducts after closing. I am really impressed by such a small detail.

Anyways enough chitter chatter, here is some updated pics for those far far away.

Second Floor

It has been a week since the last post, so here is an update.

They have finished the first floor entirely, all interior walls are up on the first floor.

The second floor is now up, they still have 2 bedrooms, the 2 bathrooms and a couple of closets to frame in and then they can put on the roof.

We heard from one of the other future home owners that the builder is approximately 6 weeks ahead of schedule, that could mean we could close early.

This time next week we should have a roof!

2 Walls....Well Kinda

We went to the building site this afternoon to check on the progress of the house. It is really starting to take shape. They have now fully framed 2 of the outside walls. I guess that they didn't stand them up yet since it was really windy today and they must have been worried that the house would fly away like in the wizzard of ozz.

The building crew has also laid out the locations for all of the inside walls. The areas that we were concerned might be too small are going to be a nice size. We are very pleased and impressed.

Here are some of the latest pictures of our pretty new blue walls. Hopefully the next post will have the walls standing!

Floor Joists

Hello:

Well they have now started the framing for the house. On Thursday they have put the floor joists in on the first floor. The next step is the sub floor and then they will start on the walls.

We are very excited to see such progress already. We may have 4 walls by the weekend, so stay tuned.

Backfilled

We have not posted for a few days. We went to the house last night and now our foundation has been backfilled. The next step is for the builder to start the framing which we hear will start in a couple of weeks. We are very excited about the next step.

Here are some current pictures.
